Blackberry of iPhone: A competition from Twitter usage

In US mobile market, more than half of BlackBerry users intend to switch to the iconic iPhone as Wall Street experts pull the plug on RIM’s recovery plans. While I was reading some researched which compared iPhone and Blackberry  user habits, I came up a question in my mind. I wonder my blog reader choose which mobile device when they tweet ?

An example from my country ( Turkey) % 59 of twitter users prefer mobile devices to tweet.  When it comes to device selection, Turkish users prefer BB with a percentage of % 45 , on the other hand only % 27 iphone users prefer to tweet via their devices. Ok, I agree to type with qwerty keyboard, but is it enough for RIM company to survive in smartphone competition. I am looking forward your comments. Which smartphone do you prefer to tweet ? BB or iPhone ?

Other findings:

• Most U.S. tablet owners have paid for downloaded music (62%) and books (58%) for usage on their device. Approximately half have paid for movies (51%).

With customers seeking for Easter inspiration online, it´s the chocolate brands that become the most engaging industry during the holidays. From 0 To $1 Billion In Two Years: Instagram’s Rose-Tinted Ride To Glory

Company:Instagram
Website:instagram.com
Launch Date:March 2010
Funding:$47.5M

Instagram is a free photo sharing application that allows users to take photos, apply a filter, and share it on the service or a variety of other social networking services, including Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Tumblr, Flickr , Foursquare and Posterous .The application is compatible with any iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.2 or above. Instagram, in an homage to both the Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid cameras, confines photos into a square shape.

Even now, it’s still shocking how the remarkably low distribution costs of the web can change a founder’s fate overnight. Many startups are duds, and most grow at a clip that’s just not fast enough to justify an interesting valuation.

But once in awhile, a company comes along and just nails it. The right timing. The right market. The right place. Then all the rules you know about multiples, comparable benchmarks and so on just buckle under the pressure of momentum.

When comScore measured total number of visitors to online banking sites in December 2011, France and the UK came out ahead of the smaller Northern European countries, with 25.8 million and 19.9 million visitors, respectively.

Facebook Announced That It Has Purchased Instagram

The reported acquisition price was $1 billion. The letter from Mark Zuckerberg.

I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.

For years, we’ve focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we’ll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests.

We believe these are different experiences that complement each other. But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building on Instagram’s strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook.

That’s why we’re committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.

We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.

These and many other features are important parts of the Instagram experience and we understand that. We will try to learn from Instagram’s experience to build similar features into our other products. At the same time, we will try to help Instagram continue to grow by using Facebook’s strong engineering team and infrastructure.

This is an important milestone for Facebook because it’s the first time we’ve ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don’t plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together.

We’re looking forward to working with the Instagram team and to all of the great new experiences we’re going to be able to build together.
